When changing settings on the Router's Setup page, the browser prompts for a password, and will not accept it

S O L U T I O N

Please follow these instructions to to resolve that problem:

1.  Open Internet Explorer, Internet explorer can be found on your desktop or the start menu.

2.  After "Internet Explorer" opens, hit the [Esc] key, then click on the Tools menu at the top, and select Internet Options.

3.  When "Internet Options" loads, click on the Security tab.  After the "Secuity" area loads, click on the Default Level button and select Medium-low.

4.  Click Apply then OK, and close Internet Explorer.

See if you use apply settings in the rotuer now, if not please use these additional instructions:

1.  Open your browser and input the routers IP Address into the "Address" bar, (by default the routers IP Address is  http://192.168.1.1) and click Go or hit the [Enter] key.

2.  Next you'll be prompted for a user name and password, leave the "User Name" blank and the input the routers "Password" (By default the routes password is admin).

3.  Once you arrive at the Setup page and click the Password tab at the top.

4.  Remove all of the asterisks in both the "password" and "confirm" password fields and click Apply.*
*Note:  After you apply the settings, then click continue, the asterisks may re appear, this is normal, the password is nothing, however, a security feature built into the router encrypts the password to prevent others from viewing it, hence the extra asterisks.

5.  Go back to the Setup page and make the necessary changes.

6.  Now, when clicking the Apply button, a white box should appear, showing that the settings are successful, then click Continue.

7.  Go back to the password page and reenter a password. It does not have to be the default password, but we recommend that you change this be changed to something you will not forget.
